The Night Ministry
Our congregation has been blessed by a partnership with The Night Ministry. Using proceeds from our monthly Game Nights, we purchase food for and put together sandwich lunches for the homeless in the Uptown and Humboldt Park neighborhoods of Chicago. We are always looking for volunteers to help make the lunches and/or travel with a small group to hand out the meals and engage with the folks being served. For more information, to volunteer or to make a donation, please call or email the church: 708-453-3662 or email@example.com.
Our service work with The Night Ministry was featured on both the K-LOVE and Air1 radio networks based in California via their News Pages and social media sites. You can read the story and see our photos by clicking on either one of the following links: K-LOVE or Air1.
New Life for Old Bags
Another organization that has drawn support from members at Acacia Park Lutheran Church is New Life for Old Bags. Folks join together in fellowship to make sleeping mats out of plastic grocery bags for the homeless. NLOB work days are the first Saturday of each month from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm at United in Faith Lutheran Church, 6525 W Irving Park Road, Chicago.
Pub Theology: Basements to Backyards
Do you enjoy good conversation? Are you curious about God, spirituality, and the Christian faith? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then please join us for our monthly Pub Theology small groups gatherings. Adapting the “theology on tap” model, a different member of our community will open up his or her home/backyard for fellowship and discussions about current and relevant topics in a comfortable setting. For more details, such as the location and date of our next Pub Theology group, check out our Calendar of Events.
Every other month, church and community members get together to discuss a book that we’ve all read. Please join us for fellowship, conversation, love of books and reading, and perhaps a snack or two. Everyone is welcome, so feel free to invite your friends, family and neighbors. Make sure to check our Welcome page for our current book selection and the date of the meeting.
