The Night Ministry
Our congregation has been blessed by a partnership with The Night Ministry. Using proceeds from our monthly Game Nights, we purchase food for and put together sandwich lunches for the homeless in the Uptown and Humboldt Park neighborhoods of Chicago. We are always looking for volunteers to help make the lunches and/or travel with a small group to hand out the meals and engage with the folks being served. For more information, to volunteer or to make a donation, please call or email the church: 708-453-3662 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
“You and The Word” Bible Study
Our regular Bible study group meets the last Sunday of each month immediately following worship. Participants gather for fellowship in a small-group setting, which both encourages and enhances thoughtful discussion and the exchange of ideas. For the date and time of our next “You and The Word” Bible study meeting, please visit our Calendar of Events page. Everyone is welcome!
Pub Theology: Basements to Backyards
Do you enjoy good conversation? Are you curious about God, spirituality, and the Christian faith? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then please join us for our monthly Pub Theology small-group gatherings. Adapting the “theology on tap” model, a different member of our community will open up his or her home/backyard for fellowship and discussions about current and relevant topics in a comfortable setting. For more details, such as the location and date of our next Pub Theology group, check out our Calendar of Events.
Acacia Park has a Little Free Library!
What is a Little Free Library?
A Little Free Library is a community book exchange. It belongs to everyone, and everyone is free to use it!
Take a Book—If you see something you’d like to read, you are welcome to take it. When you’re finished, share it with a friend; bring it back to the church, or leave it in another Little Free Library. (To find other Little Free Libraries in our area or anyplace else, click here.)
Leave a Book—It’s up to everyone to keep this library full of good reads. Bring books to share when you can, and be a friend of Little Free Libraries everywhere. Help support this mission of building community, sparking creativity, and inspiring readers.
Every other month, church and community members get together to discuss a book that we’ve all read. Please join us for fellowship, conversation, love of books and reading, and perhaps a snack or two. Everyone is welcome, so feel free to invite your friends, family and neighbors. Please see our Welcome page for our current book selection an date of discussion.
